CURRENT AFFAIRS: AN ENDANGERED SPECIES Fifty years after the start of PANORAMA, current affairs as a broadcasting genre is no longer central to the nation's television schedules. Is this a cause for democratic concern? Or is it a sign that it is no longer necessary to distinguish current affairs from news and other specialist topical programmes? What do audiences want? This conference brings together academics, radio and television broadcasters, regulators and all who are interested in examining how broadcasters reflect on and respond to current issues. Sir Jeremy Isaacs will give a keynote address on the evening of Friday, November 7th, 2003.
