When Florida’s popular Tea Party Senator Marco Rubio announced his endorsement of Mitt Romney in March, it seemed all too clear that he was vying for a potential vice presidency. As the nation inches its way closer to the general election and reports indicate that Rubio may in fact be hand-picked by the Bilderberg group as Mitt Romney’s running mate, the possibility of a Romney/Rubio ticket increases dramatically, and raises once again the issue of how influential the Bilderberg group is in the presidential and political process.

Rubio has hit the campaign trail by Romney’s side rather hard lately. For example, he is the only Senator to have embarked on last weekend’s Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia, at which Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were also present.

“Senator Rubio has pushed to promote democracy” in the region, spokesman Alex Conant explained. “This summit is a good opportunity for Senator Rubio to discuss the importance of democracy with leaders from around the region.”

But as noted by the Washington Post, there may be more to Rubio’s appearance at the Summit than that. “Reminds us of a foreign jaunt made by another potential vice presidential pick back in 2004,” the Post reports. “That would be John Edwards.” In other words, Rubio’s trip may have less to do with his concern for promoting democracy and more to do with his own political aspirations.

Rubio also appeared beside Romney in Pennsylvania in a last minute effort to campaign before the state’s primary, which is being held today.

Commenting on the appearance of the Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio on Romney’s campaign trail, Yahoo News reports, “It had the looks of a running mate audition, with the two men striding together through the Mustang Expediting delivery company’s warehouse, and Romney occasionally stepping back to let Rubio handle some questions.”

Likewise, it was just the other day that Rubio had an accidental slip of the tongue that may have revealed his underlying intentions about his political career:

“Three, four, five, six, seven years from now, if I do a good job as vice president — I’m sorry, as senator — I’ll have the chance to do all sorts of things.”

Washington Post columnist Al Kamen wrote an article last month wherein he implied that Rubio was the preferred choice of the globalist Bilderberg group, which has a history of selecting vice presidential candidates. In 2008, former Fannie Mae CEO and Bilderberg member Jim Johnson was asked by President Obama to select his running mate. Johnson was apparently also prominent in the decision to choose Jonathan Edwards as John Kerry’s running mate in 2004.

The Bilderberg seems to play a significant role in the entire presidential election process in general. In June of 2008, for example, the press lost track of the whereabouts of both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in Northern Virginia, where a Bilderberg group was “coincidentally” hosting a meeting.

"Reporters traveling with Obama sensed something might be happening between the pair when they arrived at Dulles International Airport after an event in Northern Virginia and Obama was not aboard the airplane," reported the Associated Press at the time.

Dulles airport was just a few miles from the Westfields Marriott hotel where Henry Kissinger, David Rockefeller, and a number of other Bilderberg globalists were meeting.

When reporters questioned Obama’s spokesman Robert Gibbs about Obama’s whereabouts, Gibbs just smiled and declined to comment.

At the time, the neo-liberal website Wonkette, which typically dispels what it dubs to be “conspiracy theories,” made the connection between Obama’s disappearance and the nearby Bilderberg meeting.

"Guess who had a very private talky-talk in (maybe) romantic Northern Virginia tonight, probably at the Bilderberg Group meeting in Chantilly? Your Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton!" states the blog. "They really met and talked, in private, Thursday night. And really, it sounds like they did this at that creepy Bilderberg Group meeting, which is happening now, and which is so secret that nobody will admit they’re going, even though everybody who is anybody goes to Bilderberg."

In 2009, Politico’s Ken Vogel reported that Obama’s officials were delivering private briefings to Bilderberg members in Greece. Vogel reported:

A handful of high-ranking Obama administration officials this month delivered private briefings at the annual invitation-only conference held by an elite international organization known as the Bilderberg group.

The closed meeting of some of the most powerful business, media and political leaders in North America and Western Europe heard from top Obama diplomats James Steinberg and Richard Holbrooke, who detailed the administration’s foreign policy, while economic adviser Paul Volcker, chairman of President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board, also gave a presentation at the heavily guarded seaside resort in Greece that hosted the event.

Clearly, the Bilderberg group has some political influence.

Though the Bilderberg group has described itself as a “small, flexible, informal and off-the-record international forum in which different viewpoints can be expressed and mutual understanding enhanced,” it is widely accepted as a highly secretive and influential organization of globalists. Any lawmaker who paints themselves as constitutionalist, as the Tea Party favorite Rubio has attempted to do, would repudiate an endorsement from an organization like the Bilderberg group.

Of course, it is not just the Bilderberg group’s possible preference for Rubio that raises questions about Rubio as a vice presidential candidate, but Rubio’s voting record. According to the Freedom Index — a congressional scorecard that rates lawmakers based on how closely their voting records follow the United States Constitution — Rubio scored an average of 71 percent in his second year in the 112th Congress. That score was based on Rubio’s records in significant votes such as the debt deal and indefinite detention.

Still, despite heavy speculation that Rubio is the likely VP choice, it may be too soon to consider Rubio’s qualifications as Romney’s VP, particularly as Romney has skirted the subject.

"We really haven't had a discussion yet of putting together a list, or evaluating various candidates," Romney said. "It's just at the very early stages," he told reporters.

"I don't think I have any comment on qualifications of individuals to serve in various positions in government at this stage," Romney added."That's something that we're going to be considering down the road as we consider various potential vice presidential nominees

Goldman Sachs - vampire squid or simply a powerful network?

by Clive Menzies
01 May 2012

Global banking interests continue to dominate government posts in Europe and the United States, with the needs of ordinary citizens coming second to those of the financial services industry - claims Occupy London campaign group

The disclosure that Jim O'Neill of Goldman Sachs is a candidate to be the next governor of the Bank of England is a cause for grave concern. Over recent years - global banking interests and Goldman Sachs, in particular, have dominated government posts in the United States and Europe. The harshest critics would say they have presided over one catastrophe after another. In the 1990s, former chief executive officer of Goldman Sachs Robert Rubin became Bill Clinton's Treasury secretary and presided over the disastrous de-regulation of banking and derivatives trading. The collapse of the hedge fund Long Term Capital Management, in 1998, was caused by huge derivative securities trades going wrong. The massive bank bail-outs in the wake of the sub-prime crisis were needed because Rubin organised the repeal of the Glass-Steagal Act, therefore removing the separation of retail and investment banking.

Hank Paulson, another former CEO of Goldman Sachs, was Bush Junior's Treasury secretary - who in 2008 frightened the US Congress into bailing out the banks with the $800bn Troubled Assets Relief Program – known as TARP - of which Goldman Sachs received $10bn. Coincidentally, they paid themselves $10bn in bonuses in the same year. Paulson, together with Lloyd Blankfein - Goldman's current CEO - organised the $128bn bail-out of American International Group of which Goldman Sachs received $13bn in respect of credit default swaps underwritten by AIG. In 2003, Goldman Sachs arranged a secret debt swap for the Greek government to enable Greece to meet the criteria to qualify for membership of the euro. Lucas Papedemos, the current unelected prime minister, was running the Central Bank of Greece at the time. And the current head of the Greek debt office started his career at Goldman.

The blending of banking and politics is perfectly embodied by arch-technocrat Mario Monti, the unelected Prime Minister of Italy. Monti is an adviser for Goldman Sachs International, and the European chairman of the Trilateral Commission - the executive chairman being David Rockefeller. He is also on the steering committee of the Bilderberg Group – again, the executive chairman being David Rockefeller - alongside Peter Sutherland, the chairman of Goldman Sachs International. Monti's glittering curriculum vitae also includes membership of the research advisory council of the Goldman Sachs Global Market Institute.

The European Central Bank also has a Goldman tentacle around its neck. Mario Draghi was appointed president of the ECB in November, last year. Draghi was a member of the World Bank and managing director of the Italian Treasury before spending three years as managing director of Goldman Sachs International, between 2002 and 2005 – only to return to government as president of the Italian central bank. Draghi has been dogged by controversy over the accounting tricks conducted by Italy and other nations on the eurozone periphery as they tried to squeeze into the single currency a decade ago. See What price the new democracy? Goldman Sachs
conquers Europe by Stephen Foley, for a detailed map of the network of power in the single currency area.

Central banks are dominated by banking interests and they have served their sponsors well. Even the US government appointee Ben Bernanke, chairman of the privately controlled Federal Reserve Board, allegedly dances to the bankers' tune. A recent US Congressional audit of the Fed revealed that $16 trillion dollars was secretly created and given to domestic and international banks between 2007 and 2010. This is in addition to successive tranches of quantitative easing, which have driven up asset prices with little effect on the real economy. As the CEO of Goldman's asset management business, O'Neill has been a direct beneficiary of this largesse.

It gets muddier. The current president of the New York Federal Reserve William Dudley worked at Goldman for 21 years, including 10 as their chief economist. The CEO of the New York Stock Exchange Duncan Niederauer chalked up 22 years at Goldman. Meanwhile, the current head of the World Bank Robert Zoellick is a former managing director of – you guessed it - Goldman Sachs. Closer to home, the Bank of England's Mervyn King has been no less generous to banking interests: £325bn of quantitative easing in the United Kingdom has similarly driven up asset prices with little benefit to the majority of British people. We are fortunate in that the Bank of England was nationalised in 1946, but unless we populate the court - the governing body of the Bank of England - with truly independent thinkers, banking interests will continue to benefit at our expense. And if we hand the reins to yet another Goldman Sachs man, we can expect more problems.

New French president, another Bilderberg stooge
Monday, 07 May 2012

The mass media is promulgating the notion that the election of Socialist French President Francois Hollande represents some kind of massive sea change and is a direct challenge to the European Union, and yet Hollande’s past and the people he surrounds himself with confirms the fact that he is merely another committed globalist and an enthusiastic supporter of the dictatorial EU’s sovereignty-stripping ethos.

“In the whole of Europe it’s time for change,” Hollande told cheering crowds who gathered to hear his victory speech in Paris early Monday,” reports the L.A. Times .

“Observers agree that Mr Hollande’s election represents a sea-change in the governance of the eurozone and the management of the single currency crisis,” reports Sky News.

However, any suggestion that Hollande’s defeat of Nicolas Sarkozy represents some kind of major challenge to the European Union and its efforts, in close coordination with the IMF and Goldman Sachs , to exploit the debt crisis for its own political ends, is clearly wide of the mark.

Hollande is merely another creature of the establishment and an enthusiastic pro-European superstate globalist. He supported the 1992 Maastricht Treaty, the document which outlined the introduction of the euro single currency and was itself based on a 1955 Bilderberg blueprint. Hollande also supported the European Constitution in a 2005 referendum despite most of his socialist allies voting against it.

Hollande is the former spokesman for ex-French President Lionel Jospin, another committed globalist who attended the Bilderberg Group meeting in 1996.

He is also a former aide to the last Socialist President in France, Francois Mitterand, a 33rd degree Freemason who commissioned the pyramid at the Louvre to be made out of 666 glass panels – another down to earth “man of the people”. Alongside German Chancellor and Bohemian Grove attendee Helmut Kohl, Mitterand fathered the Maastricht Treaty. According to Bilderberg sleuth Daniel Estulin, Bilderberg were largely responsible for Mitterand’s presidential victory in in 1981.

Hollande’s “special adviser” is none other than Manuel Valls, a former Freemason and 2008 Bilderberg attendee who openly supports the establishment of a European federal superstate at the expense of national sovereignty. Valls has publicly called for the European Commission to control national budgets of EU member nations.

When confronted about his Bilderberg connection by We Are Change Paris , Valls attempted to deflect the question by accusing the videographers of denying the Holocaust.

Despite all the media bluster about a “sea change” in France and Hollande representing a threat to the European Union’s political agenda, expect him to be yet another dutiful water carrier for the elite as he taxes the middle class out of existence while continuing to sacrifice French national sovereignty on the altar of the EU superstate. //Joseph Watson

Note of Marek: In his political entourage we find Laurent fabius, Bilderberger and
a few month ago, the infamous Strauss Kahn who should have been selected as the socialist candidate, should the New York episode not have taken place...

Ottawa has second chance to save millions of lives

JAMES ORBINSKI AND RICHARD ELLIOTT

Globe and Mail Update

Published Tuesday, May. 15, 2012 2:00AM EDT

Canadians want to take concrete action on behalf of those in developing countries who are needlessly suffering from fully treatable ailments. They want to help millions of people worldwide gain access to live-saving, affordable medicine.

Our politicians have this very opportunity in the form of Bill C-398, currently making its way through Parliament. The bill seeks to fix Canada’s flawed Access to Medicines Regime (CAMR), an eight-year-old law that was supposed to make it easier to send lower-cost generic drugs to countries that can’t afford to pay top dollar for brand-name drugs.

Groves of academe

Despite the best intentions, the law never worked. It was so riddled with cumbersome regulations and red tape that only one shipment of medicine has been processed since 2004.

Bill C-398, a private member’s bill, would untangle that red tape once and for all, allowing the legislation to work the way it was intended.

It’s the second time in just over a year that the bill has arrived in the House of Commons. Last year, it sailed through with support from MPs from all parties, but died in the Senate when the 2011 federal election was called.

Now MPs and senators have a second chance to do the right thing. It’s a simple adjustment that could help the global effort to save millions of lives.

Canada first recognized the need back in 2004 when it passed legislation to create Canada’s Access to Medicines Regime. The law permitted generic drug companies here to manufacture much less costly versions of brand-name drugs for export to treat public health problems such as HIV.

Despite noble intent, the system faltered. The one generic drug company that did use CAMR has said it will not attempt the current cumbersome procedure again. So far, developing countries have been reluctant to try, partly because of CAMR’s unnecessary restrictions.

What happened? On paper, the law allowed generic manufacturers to bypass Canadian patents by applying for licences – or patent exemptions – in order to manufacture copies of certain drugs for export to eligible countries named in the law.

But from the outset, applicants ran into roadblocks. There is a one-country limit for each licence application and a fixed maximum quantity of medicines for each order that had to be specified in advance. Eliminating the quantity ceiling means generic producers would be able to supply the amount of drugs identified by those countries as their needs arise.

Potential users are waiting in the wings for reform, and there’s no argument that generic drugs have already saved millions of lives.

A little more than a decade ago, only about 200,000 people who needed life-saving AIDS medicine in the developing world were getting treatment. Today, that figure stands at more than six million. The remarkable improvement was made possible because drug prices plummeted, thanks largely to generic competition. But more needs to be done.

Some opponents of reform argue that Bill C-398 would undermine intellectual property rights held dear by brand-name pharmaceutical manufacturers.

But even international trade bodies such as the World Trade Organization have recognized that many developing countries aren’t in a position to manufacture their own life-saving drugs and need to rely on imported medicines.

Making CAMR work means cost benefits for Canadians too. Aid money would work more effectively in developing countries because a portion of our financial assistance is earmarked for medicine. If the drug costs were reduced, Canadian aid dollars could buy more.

CAMR reform has the support of medical and legal experts, human-rights organizations, physicians, faith leaders, health activists and international aid workers across Canada and internationally. They’re not alone; fully 80 per cent of the public supports fixing CAMR, according to a national opinion poll.

We believe this is one of the most important pieces of legislation Canada will ever have the chance to pass. It will save lives and help change the world.
