Select ‘outsider' in presidential election
March 11, 2012 2:56 PM
ShareThis| Print Story | E-Mail StoryThe 2012 presidential election is a turning point in our nation's history.

After WWII, this country has been on a downward spiral of corruption. We see the same elite wealthy families running their schemes to ensure that they are the ones that maintain power, wealth and control over the rest of the people. They have control over the banks, the courts, the media, our medicine, our schools, what we see on television and our political system.

Their agenda is a complex web of deceptions. Most people are clueless to what is happening in front of their very noses. They are referred to as “the PTB” (Powers That Be) or the Bilderberg Group. Make no mistake. Nothing is happening by chance, or coincidence. They have a plan. And their plan has been running for many years now. They use world events to manipulate things to their own advantage. They are dangerous. They do not respect what America stands for. They only care about power and money. Control is their game.

Election after election, they put their candidates up for vote. They do not care which one is chosen, because any one of them will support the corrupt agenda of their masters. Obama was the last example. In 2012, we have another crop of candidates that will be working for the “Aristocracy of Purpose” and not the “People.”

Will the people be foolish enough to continue their blind support of these puppets? Or will the people of the United States rise up, educate themselves on what is happening around them, and select a true “outsider” who would go against the “Evil Empire” and try to restore America to what the Founding Fathers established for us? The 2012 election is truly a desperate turning point for our great nation. If we do not resist the PTB, we will fall victim to their sinister agenda.

Don't believe everything you see on TV. Dig deeper. Do your own research. Open your mind to new truths. The world is changing. And it is not changing for the better for most of us. It is a war. A new civil war is upon us. The “Elite Aristocracy” versus the “people.”

Wake up. Ron Paul gets my vote. He is certainly not perfect, but he is all we have. Ron Paul is not a puppet for the PTB Bilderberg Group. His record reflects that he is for the people, not the evil empire. If there is any chance of hope for any change, it is with Ron Paul. Don't be fooled again! The other candidates do not have your best interests at heart. They ALL work for the same masters. They serve the shadow world.

Danish reports link Dong chief's departure with government audit
The surprise resignation of Dong Energy chief executive Anders Eldrup yesterday could be linked to a Danish government National Audit Office investigation into the company, according to reports in Denmark.

In Depth: Time is tight as Dong ramps up offshore at Anholt
Financial newspaper Borsen points out that the result of an investigation into allegations of higher-than-necessary power prices and wasteful spending at Dong is due to be published soon.
***********************************************************
Information in Dong’s 2011 annual results, published on 9 March, could have been the trigger for the resignation, it suggests. Dong is 76%-owned by the Danish government.

Dong officials have attempted to play down any connection, with chairman Fritz Schur saying that after 11 years at the company it is ”natural” that Eldrup, 63, resigns, and that the decision comes as a result of a ”mutual agreement”.

However, Borsen’s exchange business editor Søren Linding claims: "The board will want it to appear as scheduled, but it is definitely not planned.”

Danish analysts consulted by Recharge confirm that they were taken by surprise by the resignation.

In a Danish TV interview, Schur says: "I have been chairman of public companies in more than 20 years. I cannot remember that there have been any of those companies that have not been subject to an audit office investigation. So for me it is quite natural that there will be a study.”

He praised Eldrup’s work at Dong, calling it “outstanding”. According to press reports, Eldrup will receive a payoff of around DKr17m ($3m), equivalent to 33 and a half months' salary.

Eldrup says he will now concentrate on the five board positions he holds with different companies.

Dong has appointed chief financial officer Carsten Thomsen as acting chief executive. According to an internal message to employees published in the Danish press, Thomsen confirms that he is not a candidate to become chief executive, with the company set to seek an external successor to Eldrup.

Thomsen says: "I am very concerned that we not lose momentum during this transition period and that we continue the previous rate.”

He adds: ”Our transition from being a traditional energy company to a company that predominantly produces energy from...sources such as offshore wind and biomass, will also continue as planned."

Bildt accuses journalist of spreading Bosnia ‘lies’

AFP/Stockholm

In a row over the Bosnian war, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt responded yesterday to an attack by a French journalist, telling her to read his books and stop peddling “lies” about him.
Journalist Florence Hartmann slammed Bildt on Friday for failing to condemn late Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic and for attending 20th anniversary events in Sarajevo marking the start of the siege of the Bosnian city.
“I’m just asking, why did he come, why is he coming today ... he should have come when he could have done something” to avoid the war, said Hartmann.
“When he could do something, he was saying that Milosevic was a nice guy ... he does not deserve to be here today,” she said.
Bildt rejected her criticism.
“She should read my books instead of telling lies,” the minister wrote on his blog, adding that the French journalist had exhibited a “customary carelessness with the facts”.
He noted that she was “in conflict to such an extent” with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) that a warrant for her arrest had been issued.
Hartmann was war-time Balkans correspondent of French daily Le Monde and later spokeswoman for the former ICTY chief prosecutor Carla Del Ponte.
She was found guilty by the court, her former employer, of contempt for disclosing confidential details of Milosevic’s trial, but has refused to pay a 7,000-euro ($9,000) fine.
As Sweden’s prime minister between 1991 and 1994, Bildt played an important role during the 1992-1995 inter-ethnic Bosnian war.
From 1995 to 1997 he was also the first high representative of the international community after the signing of the Dayton peace accord that ended the conflict.
Milosevic was considered by many a key culprit of the war due to his political and military support of the Bosnian Serbs.

Spain's Queen Sofia talks to reporters after a visit to Spain's King Juan Carlos at a hospital in Madrid April 16, 2012. King Juan Carlos came under intense media fire on Sunday for hunting elephants in Botswana when his country was being sucked back into the euro zone's financial crisis and one young Spaniard out of two was unemployed. The royal holiday last week would have remained secret if the king had not tripped on a step, fractured his hip and had to be flown back urgently to Madrid to undergo hip replacement surgery on Saturday morning.REUTERS/Andrea Comas (SPAIN - Tags: ROYALS HEALTH POLITICS HEADSHOT)

Kim to succeed Zoellick as World Bank president

World Bank Group President Robert B. Zoellick on Monday congratulated Dr. Jim Yong Kim, who has been chosen to become the 12th president of the World Bank and offered his support in ensuring a successful handover for July 1.

In a statement, he said, “I am pleased to work with Jim Yong Kim during the transition. He is an impressive and accomplished individual. Jim has seen poverty and vulnerability first-hand, through his impressive work in developing countries. His innovations in health-care have helped to save numerous lives. As President at Dartmouth College, Jim has had to take tough managerial and financial decisions while running a large, multidisciplinary organization. His rigorous, science-based drive for results will be invaluable for the World Bank Group as it modernizes to better serve client countries in overcoming poverty.”

The World Bank named South Korea-born US national Jim Yong Kim as its new chief on Monday after an unprecedented competition for the coveted post from Nigeria and Colombia. Kim will succeed Robert Zoellick when his five-year term ends in June.

The Executive Directors followed the new selection process which included an open nomination where any national of the Bank’s membership could be proposed by any Executive Director or Governor, publication of the names of the candidates, interviews of the candidates by the Executive Directors, and final selection of the President.

The Executive Directors selected Dr. Jim Yong Kim as President for a five-year term beginning on July 1, 2012. The President is Chair of the Boards of Directors of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA). The President is also ex officio Chair of the Boards of Directors of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the Administrative Council of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

Other nominees who competed for the post were José Antonio Ocampo and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Their candidacies enriched the discussion of the role of the President and of the World Bank Group’s future direction.

Dr. Jim Yong Kim is currently President of Dartmouth College. A U.S. national, Dr. Kim is a co-founder of Partners in Health (PIH) and a former director of the Department of HIV/AIDS at the World Health Organization (WHO). Before assuming the Dartmouth presidency, Dr. Kim held professorships at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health.

He also served as chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, chief of the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and director of the François Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. Kim was awarded a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship (2003), was named one of America’s “25 Best Leaders” by US News & World Report (2005), and was selected as one of TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” (2006).

He was elected in 2004 to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences—one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine—for his professional achievements and commitment to service. He has published widely over the past two decades, authoring or co-authoring articles for leading academic and scientific journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, and Science.

Born in 1959 in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Kim moved with his family to the United States at the age of five and grew up in Muscatine, Iowa. Dr. Kim graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 1982. He earned a medical doctorate from Harvard Medical School in 1991 and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Harvard University in 1993. He is married to Dr. Younsook Lim, a pediatrician. The couple has two young sons.

************************
Congratulations to Dr KIM. He is now is an environment where financial
interests and medicine are bound in the never won war to poverty( they all
were saying that to us since the years '50, but the principle is to sell
medicine, make semblance of a war against poverty but never do what is needed to win it, because there is too much people on earth, and not enough to nurture them.
I don't deny his scientific qualities, but he will drive a boat which has an imprecise destination on a river full of sand banks, and banksters.

Biblical Zinger

Anne Lauvergeon, former head of the French nuclear company Areva, dropped a little bomb on Nicolas Sarkozy in an interview last week. After revealing that she’d disagreed with the French president over selling nuclear energy to Gaddafi (Sarkozy was pro), she criticized him for placing everything “in the realm of the emotional.” For her coup de grâce, Atomic Anne went biblical, quoting from Ecclesiastes: “Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child.”

The Brussels Business - shining a light on the EU and lobbyists
17 April 2012 | by Dean Carroll
Despite its position as the world's most powerful international legislator and the dominance which it exerts other national governments, the European Union is still seen as a niche topic by the media in most EU member states. Ask the man on the street about the activities of the Brussels bubble and you will also be met with a shrug and a "who cares?", in the majority of cases.

But a fascinating new documentary The Brussels Business is attempting to change the attitude of citizens by shining a light on the estimated 15,000 lobbyists in the Belgian city, and their relationships with the European Commission and the European Parliament. Certainly, MEPs have suffered a number of lobbying scandals – the last one occurring less than a year ago.

And according to the film, which PublicServiceEurope.com was lucky enough to receive a preview screening of, the stage is set for further turmoil and a public backlash. The movie certainly packs a punch in terms of the minutiae of detail that is pored over. But although the film tries to create a narrative of conspiracy, with its arty direction and edgy use of cinematography and music, the talking heads – ranging from transparency campaigners Corporate Europe Observatory to public affairs group the European Services Forum and independent academic Dr Maria Green Cowles – never quite deliver the smoking gun.

Much is made of the European Roundtable of Industrialists' – a group of 40 European multinational chief executives - disproportionate influence on commission policy-making. But the ERT is not Europe's answer to the Bilderberg Group. Far from it, the collective has been quite open and honest about its list of demands for politicians and officials – and the ultimatum given when the commission seemed to be wavering about the creation of the single market. Murkier, though, is the lack of transparency at the commission. A subject explored more fully by our secret columnist Schadenfreude here.

As he puts it: "Public authorities publish information about their activities, neutrally or tendentiously. They withhold information which they consider sensitive. Publication can become overloaded or diffuse, defeating its purpose. It becomes in management-speak TMI - too much information. There are reports that 'diplomats and officials' are concerned over demands for greater openness, dipping further into 'pre-documents'; including email traffic in the preparatory work, the results of pre-decision dialogue and minutes of commissioner meetings. These insiders do not want more transparency. The present set-up helps them to skate around what there is."

The film premieres at the Millennium Documentary Film Festival in Brussels this week and there will be further screenings for lobbyists and MEPs in May before it gets a wider release. My advice to those who feel that the EU is only of marginal relevance to their everyday lives, at best, is to go and see this documentary. You might just need to rethink those dismissive attitudes, especially as European economic governance and supranational policy-making gather momentum in order to cope with a globalised world where national governments can have little impact on their own.

Goldman Sachs rules the world; Bank of England next

Speculation that Canadian Central Bank head Mark Carney has been tapped to become the next Governor of the Bank of England brings with it the possibility of virtually complete domination of Europe by Goldman Sachs – the very same financial terrorists who helped cause the economic collapse in the first place.

“Mark Carney, the governor of Canada’s central bank, has been informally approached as a potential candidate to replace Sir Mervyn King as head of the Bank of England in June next year,” reports the Financial Times.

“One of the world’s most respected central bankers, Mr Carney, 47, now heads the Financial Stability Board, which oversees global financial regulation. He was approached recently by a member of the BoE’s court, the largely non-executive body that oversees its activities, according to three people involved in the process.”

Carney is also a 13-year Goldman Sachs veteran and was involved in the 1998 Russian financial crisis which was exacerbated by Goldman advising Russia while simultaneously betting against the country’s ability to pay its debt.

Although the appointment would see the highly unusual precedent of a foreigner heading up the 318-year-old central bank, according to one observer, “As a Canadian national he is a subject of the Queen…That is important.”

Carney’s possible ascension to become the next BoE head, although denied by the Bank of Canada, would be the cherry on the cake for Goldman Sachs’ financial overthrow of Europe in their bid to exploit the financial crisis to centralize power into an EU superstate.

Last year, former EU Commissioner Mario Monti was picked to replace Silvio Berlusconi, the democratically elected Prime Minister of Italy. Monti is an international advisor for Goldman Sachs, the European Chairman of David Rockefeller’s Trilateral Commission and also a leading member of the Bilderberg Group.

“This is the band of criminals who brought us this financial disaster. It is like asking arsonists to put out the fire,” commented Alessandro Sallusti, editor of Il Giornale.

Similarly, when Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou dared to suggest the people of Greece be allowed to have their say in a referendum, within days he was dispatched and replaced with Lucas Papademos, former vice-President of the ECB, visiting Harvard Professor and ex-senior economist at the Boston Federal Reserve.

Papademos ran Greece’s central bank while it oversaw derivatives deals with Goldman Sachs that enabled Greece to hide the true size of its massive debt, leading to Europe’s debt crisis.

Papademos and Monti were installed as unelected leaders for the precise reason that they “aren’t directly accountable to the public,” noted Time Magazine’s Stephen Faris, once again illustrating the fundamentally dictatorial and undemocratic foundation of the entire European Union.

Shortly afterwards,Mario Draghi – former Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs International – was installed as President of the European Central Bank.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary at the beginning of the 2008 financial collapse was Hank Paulson, former CEO of Goldman Sachs. When Paulson was replaced with Tim Geither, Goldman Sachs lobbyist Mark Patterson was hired as his chief advisor. Current Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein has visited the White House 10 times. Goldman Sachs spent the most money helping Barack Obama get elected in 2008.

As the graphic below illustrates, the economies of France, Ireland, Germany and Belgium are also all now controlled by individuals with a direct relationship with Goldman Sachs.

Dominion over virtually all of Europe’s major economies, as well as the United States, by one international banking giant, notorious for its role in corruption and insider trading, is now almost complete.

Goldman Sachs rules the world.

Similar to a "G2" grouping of the US and China, Pierre Defraigne says there should be a "G3" - China, the US and the EU. Fu Jing / China Daily

Pierre Defraigne considers himself lucky - for decades, he has worked together with high flyers from either Brussels or Beijing. Till 2005, he had long devoted himself to European affairs as a public servant and served as cabinet chief of the former European commissioner for trade Pascal Lamy, and the former European Commission vice-president Etienne Davignon, just to name a few of his big-name bosses. Defraigne is now executive director of the Madariaga-College of Europe Foundation, a Brussels think tank. He says he offered loyalty and faith to win his bosses' trust.

"These people are people you can talk to. You can really have even intellectual arguments with them, because they are broad-minded and far-sighted enough to see someone with alternative thinking and other views."

Since retiring in 2005, Defraigne says half of his agenda on intellectual dialogue has been about China. His idea is very simple: Europe is a mirror of China's rise. And because of his critical and independent but faithful insights, he has won respect from Chinese listeners.

Among them is the State Councilor Liu Yandong, who visited Brussels on April 17-19 to boost people-to-people exchanges between China and Europe. Defraigne is among a group of European scholars to have spoken with Liu.

"With my Chinese friends, I have developed the same sort of relationship as I did with my European bosses," Defraigne says.

Either as driver, speaker, or listener, Defraigne always has a busy agenda covering Beijing-Brussels relations.

His observations on China starts from his career on trade issues within the European Commission. For 15 years, he traveled across the world to compare development models of Asian tigers and emerging economies.

He concludes that all the countries and regions share two things: they have good macroeconomic policies, which is the key; and they "exploit external dimensions" in a clever way.

"But China is a miracle. It uses nearly the same policies, but all of a sudden it has emerged in a much wider dimension. And it changed the whole region and eventually it is changing the whole world with a mass of poor Chinese who are all of a sudden escalating the ladder toward better living standards," Defraigne says.

He says the late leader Deng Xiaoping was behind China's miracle.

Defraigne says Deng is a man who had that "very rare vision" and implemented it in a very pragmatic way: a mix of long-term vision, experimentations and generalization of reforms.

"Now the problem with China as I see it from outside is that you need a sort of new 'Deng Xiaoping'," Defraigne says.

Defraigne believes China is reaching another crucial point in its history.

"This is now not only a matter for China, it is a matter for the world," he says.

There is no country that faces a more difficult situation because of its size, the number of people and the physical vulnerability of the country - it is not a rich country and it is one that is exposed to natural disasters.

"You have to factor in all those tough realities," Defraigne says.

He says this is why he is skeptical about some Western views that project the future of China as a sort of imitation of the Western model. China is also confronted with enormous pressure; the growing demands of its people.

Similarly, if China is to climb the ladder of technology - which is crucial for it to meet its social and environmental challenges - the country needs both central authority with long-term planning and individual entrepreneurs.

China's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) is a formidable concept and it is on the right track to deliver the goals in the blueprint, which aims to restructure China's development path, Defraigne says.

But Europe and the United States should also do more "homework" to solidify the pillars of the global economy. "This is the key problem China, EU and US should share the responsibility of world peace and prosperity," Defraigne says.

Similar to a "G2" grouping of the US and China cited by scholars, Defraigne says there should be a "G3" - China, the US and the EU.

If there is a G2, Europe will be "sucked" into American power, which is neither good for Europe nor for China, Defraigne says.

"So the EU needs to exist as an independent power. It is our duty," he says.

In doing so, the EU should achieve unity, which is a core value that Europeans are forgetting about. He says the EU has been too much focused on the single market and should cultivate what is its singularity and its strength, which is its social model.

"This is the EU's homework," Defraigne says.

As for the US, it has to accept that things will never be the same again and it must tighten its fiscal belt as the dollar is no longer the currency of the world.

"That time is over because of the arrival of the euro and the yuan," Defraigne says.

All three are confronted with very heavy domestic agendas but it is important to bear in mind that China, the EU and the US play important roles for others, he says.

"This is the reason why I call on cooperation between Europe and China on technologies, especially in the area of energy, climate and the environment," Defraigne says.

During a recent conversation with the new Chinese ambassador to the EU, Wu Hailong, Defraigne said China and the EU should speed up mutual investment.

He says this mutual foreign direct investment is a formidable insurance policy against protectionism and a good vehicle to get to know each other, to share know-how, to share cultures, because at the end of the day, it is about making people happy.

"If you are poor, you are not really poor if you have culture. If you are rich and not very well educated, you can't have a really interesting life," Defraigne says.

Defraigne says his own knowledge comes mainly from reading and debating.

Apart from reading, Defraigne also enjoys music, mainly classical as well as jazz. He also loves Chinese music, classical and modern, with some arrangements inspired by folklore. "They are interesting and traditional, and very pleasant to Western ears," he says.

Defraigne says he also likes hiking and riding bicycles. He hunts as well.

"But I still work a lot, of course. China takes a lot of my time to follow. It is very demanding to go through different resources," Defraigne says.

He made his first visit to China in the early 1990s and the Chinese then were already "highly visible". He has visited the country 15 times but those have been limited to short stays in major cities.

Another reason why he devotes so much time to China is because the country has made a difference in helping ordinary people share power and wealth, Defraigne says.

"I think the rise of China will force the EU to wake up. But I don't see it as a threat for Europe," he says.

"Instead, it would be unfair for Europe not to join China to make the world fairer than it used to be."
